Surviving the Storm

9 06 2008

Yesterday afternoon I was mowing the lawn, when out of the blue this the sky went completely dark and a summer storm hit hard. We thought for sure it was tornado. The wind was so unbelievably strong, it blew off sections of shingles on the house behind us, downed about 10 trees in our neighborhood including the 25′ pine tree next store (pictured) and made for an exciting evening for the family. No one was hurt and it ended up being wonderful community night as all the neighbors came together to help cut up downed trees. As we were working on one, one guy from way down the street came walking up to help, “This is just a great excuse for me to use my chainsaw.” As he pulled the cord, I thought, “Yeah, this is much better than mowing the lawn.”
