7 Choices to Have More Joy

14 12 2009

When the angels appeared to the shepherds 2000 years ago to announce Christ’s birth, they said “I bring you good news that will bring great JOY to ALL people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem.” God extends an invitation of joy to everyone, but why don’t most people, even those who are Christ followers, experience that kind of joy. I’ve found that there are 7 ways that I short-circuit the joy Christ wants to give me.

You Got 2 Choices (one leads to more frustration, one leads to more joy)

  1. Live in your circumstances…or live in Christ
  2. Live in fear…or live in freedom
  3. Be in control…or let God be in control
  4. Complain about things…or be a people builder
  5. Assume the worst in people…or believe the best in people
  6. Live to have your needs met…or live to meet the needs of others
  7. Focus on receiving…or focus on giving

I will go to God…the Source of ALL my joy.” Psalm 43:4

A thoughtful list. I think #2 and #3 are especially helpful and challenging. Happy holidays.
